summary: The Escanor iPhone preview build, how to sideload it without the App Store, and which features iOS does not allow.

The iPhone app shares the phone web interface with Android, inside a Capacitor iOS shell. It is **not on the App Store yet**, and the build we publish is **unsigned**, so you install it with a sideloading tool.

> **Warning** Our checks build the iPhone app and launch it in the iOS simulator. It has not been tested broadly on physical iPhones yet. Treat it as a preview.

The current `ios-v1.23` release number is a release label: payload inspection reports app version `1.0`, build `1`, arm64 and minimum iOS `15.0`, with no signature or provisioning profile.

## Install

1. Download the `.ipa` from the [home page](/#download).
2. On a computer, open **Sideloadly** or **AltStore**, connect your iPhone and sign in with your own Apple ID.
3. Choose the downloaded `.ipa` and install it.
4. On the iPhone open **Settings > General > VPN & Device Management** and trust your developer profile.

Installation and expiry depend on the provisioning profile and signing method. Review the sideloading tool’s current requirements. Keep a copy of data you need before reinstalling.

## Implemented capabilities

- Sign in, chat, connections, computers, machines, billing and settings (the same screens).
- Talking to Escanor with the microphone button and voice mode, with spoken answers.
- Calling someone by name through the iOS telephone handler, subject to the system call UI, and controlling the torch.
- Opening websites by voice.

## What iOS does not allow

| Not available | Why |
|---|---|
| "Hey Escanor" while the app is closed | Escanor does not implement closed-app wake-word listening on iOS. |
| Controlling other apps (tap, scroll, read the screen) | There is no equivalent of Android's Accessibility service for third-party apps. |
| Opening other apps by name, alarms and timers, changing the volume | Escanor’s iOS native plugin does not implement these controls; the assistant reports the platform limitation. |
| Push notifications | Not set up yet. |

Those settings are hidden on iPhone, with a line saying why.

## Verify and recover

After signing and installing, launch the app and complete sign-in. Allow microphone access only when testing voice. Pair one machine and perform a safe read before requesting changes. If the app will not install, check device OS compatibility, the signing profile, device registration and the tool's installation error. If a profile expires, use the tool's renewal flow; downloading the same unsigned IPA does not renew a signature.

If voice is silent, check microphone permission and foreground state. Phone control via Android Accessibility is unavailable on iOS; pair a computer or VM for remote work instead. See [Phone pairing](/docs/computers-pairing), [Voice](/docs/voice), and [Updates](/docs/updates).
