## What is Escanor AI?

Escanor AI, usually just called Escanor, is an engineering operating system for software teams. It connects the tools your software runs on (code host, cloud, databases, monitoring and chat) once, then gives you a dashboard, an AI assistant, an MCP server for coding agents such as Claude Code and Cursor, and desktop and phone apps that work on all of it. It is made by Escanor Labs in Greater Noida, India, and lives at [escanor.in](https://www.escanor.in). Start with [What is Escanor](/docs/overview) or [sign in](/login) to try the Free plan.

## Is Escanor free?

Yes. Escanor has a Free plan with no time limit. It includes 6 integrations, 50 assistant runs a month, one seat and one workspace, plus dashboards, activity and your own machines. Paid plans raise those limits: Pro allows 25 integrations and 1,000 AI runs a month, and Team allows unlimited integrations, 10,000 runs and 25 seats. When you reach a limit, Escanor refuses the new integration or assistant run with a message, and your existing connections keep working. You can upgrade or wait for the monthly counter to reset. Compare plans on the [pricing page](/pricing) or in [Plans and billing](/docs/billing).

## How much does Escanor cost?

Escanor Pro costs ₹2,499 a month and Team costs ₹7,999 a month; Free costs nothing and Enterprise pricing is custom ([book a call](/book-a-call)). Paying yearly costs the same as ten months: ₹24,990 a year for Pro and ₹79,990 a year for Team. Prices are in Indian rupees, and the price shown is the full amount charged; nothing is added at checkout. Paid plans renew automatically until you cancel, and Escanor emails you a reminder 3 days before each renewal. Pro adds AI employees, incident automation and email alerts. Team adds 25 seats, 5 workspaces and priority support. You pay in Razorpay's form (card, UPI, net banking and more), and your card or UPI details never reach Escanor. See the [pricing page](/pricing) and [Plans and billing](/docs/billing).

## Do my agents see my API keys?

No. Coding agents call Escanor MCP with a revocable Escanor key, and Escanor runs each operation with your workspace's stored credential for that provider, bound only for the length of the call. The provider credential stays on the server and is not copied into the agent's configuration, prompts or tool arguments. Model input and tool results can still contain content from your connected systems, so keep secrets out of your own prompts and review tool output. Revoking the MCP key cuts the agent off immediately. See [Escanor MCP](/docs/mcp) and [Security and privacy](/docs/security-privacy).

## Does Escanor store my cloud credentials?

Yes. When you connect an integration, Escanor stores the credential it needs: the token granted when you sign in with the provider, or the API token or fields you paste. Escanor's backend holds these credentials encrypted, and provider operations use them on the server instead of handing them to agents. Choosing **Disconnect** on an integration deletes the stored credential. To also revoke access at the provider, remove the app or token in the provider's own settings; these are separate controls. Connect with the narrowest permissions that do the job, because provider permissions decide what can be read or changed. See [Integrations](/docs/integrations) and [Security and privacy](/docs/security-privacy).

## Where does my data live?

Escanor's backend holds your workspace data and encrypted integration credentials. If you use the desktop app, local models, files and the editor stay on your computer, but cloud assistant and integration requests still send the content they need to those services, so local storage does not make every workflow offline. Messages between your phone and a paired computer pass through a relay as sealed, end-to-end encrypted envelopes with replay checks. That applies to the pairing relay, not to every app request. On the desktop, session tokens use OS-backed encryption when available, with an owner-only file as the fallback. See [Security and privacy](/docs/security-privacy).

## Can I use my own models?

Yes. The Escanor desktop app runs local models through Ollama on your computer. You browse a model library that estimates whether each model fits your memory, download one, load it and test it in a streaming playground. Desktop voice can also use a local model for planning. The workspace assistant uses cloud models, with an Auto mode that picks a model for each message, and loading a local model does not replace that cloud routing. You can also connect AI providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, Hugging Face, Ollama and Groq as integrations. See [Local models](/docs/local-models) and [The assistant](/docs/assistant).

## Is there an iPhone app?

Yes, as a preview build you sideload; the Escanor iPhone app is not on the App Store yet. The published `.ipa` is unsigned, so you install it with Sideloadly or AltStore using your own Apple ID, then trust your developer profile under **Settings > General > VPN & Device Management**. The build targets iOS 15.0 or later. It has the same screens as Android (chat, connections, computers, machines, billing and settings), plus voice mode, calling by name and the torch. iOS does not allow "Hey Escanor" while the app is closed or controlling other apps, and push notifications are not set up yet. It has been tested mainly in the iOS simulator. See [iPhone app](/docs/iphone).

## Is there a Windows or Mac app?

Yes. Escanor Desktop is available for Windows 10 and 11 (an x64 `.exe` installer), macOS (a zipped app for Apple silicon or Intel; choose your Mac's chip) and Linux (AppImage and `.deb`). The builds are unsigned for now, so SmartScreen or Gatekeeper asks you to confirm the first run. There is no automatic update yet; install a newer build over the old one. See [Desktop app](/docs/desktop) and [Updates and installation](/docs/updates).

## Why is the app not on the Play Store?

A Play Store release is planned, but it needs a developer account and a review, so for now you install the Escanor Android app from an APK file on the home page. It needs Android 7 or newer, and device security checks such as Play Protect vary by phone. There are two downloads: the standard APK, and an opt-in phone-control APK that declares Android's Accessibility service so Escanor can tap, scroll and type for you. Play Protect blocks that service for apps installed outside the Play Store, which is why it is a separate file. Review both variants before installing. To update, install the newer APK over the old one. See [Android app](/docs/android).

## Can I self-host?

Partly. You can run Escanor machines on servers you own, such as a VM, a Raspberry Pi or a spare computer. A small agent on the server connects out to Escanor, so you open no inbound ports, and you drive Claude Code sessions on it from the apps. You can also run your own hub for machines using the setup instructions in the Remote Harness repository. The Escanor desktop app runs the whole app with your computer doing the work, including local models, Docker and an editor. The dashboard and backend are run by Escanor. See [Machines](/docs/machines), [Connect a VM](/docs/connect-a-vm) and [Desktop app](/docs/desktop).

## Which integrations are supported?

Escanor's catalog has hundreds of providers across source control, deployment, cloud, databases, monitoring, project management, communication, finance and AI. Examples include GitHub, GitLab, Vercel, Netlify, AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, Supabase, Sentry, Datadog, PagerDuty, Linear, Jira, Slack, Stripe, Razorpay, OpenAI and Anthropic. Depth of support varies: some providers get full dashboards for projects, deployments and incidents, while others are available to the assistant and MCP. You connect by signing in with the provider, pasting an API token, filling in several fields, or through a local agent. Free allows 6 integrations, Pro 25 and Team unlimited. See [Integrations](/docs/integrations) and [MCP providers](/docs/mcp-providers).

## Which AI coding tools work with Escanor MCP?

Escanor MCP works with Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code (Copilot Chat in agent mode), ChatGPT and any app that supports remote MCP servers. Open **MCP** in the dashboard: it creates a key and shows the exact command or configuration for your app, already filled in with your address and key. ChatGPT connects as a custom connector by signing in with your Escanor account, with no key to copy. Other apps use the server address and an `Authorization: Bearer <key>` header. The agent gets five tools, including `escanor_list_tools` and `escanor_invoke`, that reach your connected integrations. Use one key per agent so you can revoke it alone. See [Escanor MCP](/mcp) and the [MCP docs](/docs/mcp).

## What happens when an AI action needs approval?

The action pauses until someone reviews it. In the Escanor assistant, actions that need approval under the workspace or execution policy appear as approval cards; you approve or deny from the chat or the **Approvals** list after checking the operation, provider and arguments. Read-only lookups generally run without a prompt. On machines, Claude Code shows each command or file edit as an Allow or Deny card, which you can answer from your phone. On the desktop app, a destructive operation is denied if no approver is available. Automation runs wait under **Runs** for an owner or manager. Destructive MCP operations also need `confirm=true`, which is an argument, not proof of human review. See [Permissions and approvals](/docs/permissions-approvals).

## How do I cancel?

Cancel in **Settings > Billing** on the website (or **Settings > Plan and billing** in the phone app): two clicks, no fee. Your paid plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for; then it does not renew and your workspace moves to the Free plan. You can subscribe again at any time. Duplicate or unauthorised charges and plans that failed to activate are refunded in full, and so is a renewal you did not want if you write within 7 days and have not used the paid features since. Refunds take 5 to 7 working days through Razorpay; see [Refunds and cancellation](/refunds). Cancelling billing is separate from deleting your account, disconnecting integrations or revoking keys. If you plan to delete your Escanor account, cancel an active subscription first. See [Plans and billing](/docs/billing).

## How do I delete my data?

Open **Settings > Privacy & data**. Download a copy of your account data there, or choose **Delete account**, type your account email (and a two-step verification code if you have it on). You are signed out everywhere at once, and your account is deleted after 7 days unless you sign in and choose **Keep my account**. Cancel any paid plan first so you are not charged again. Your name, email and sign-up date are kept for 180 days, and payment records as long as tax law requires. Steps without signing in are on [Delete your account](/delete-account). To ask for a correction, a summary of your data or anything else, use [Privacy requests](/privacy/requests). To also revoke access at a provider, remove the app or token in that provider's own settings. See [Accounts and sign-in](/docs/accounts-sessions) and [Security and privacy](/docs/security-privacy).

## Which languages does voice understand?

Escanor voice understands English only, for now. That covers dictation in a message box, voice mode with spoken answers, and "Hey Escanor" on Android, where a small model recognises the phrase on the phone. Recognition of the phrase is imperfect because speech models have not heard the word "Escanor", so say it clearly or use the movable button instead. After you start talking, the phone's speech service, or an on-device model on the desktop, turns your speech into text, and that text goes to the assistant like a typed message. See [Voice](/docs/voice).

## Who builds this?

Escanor is built by Escanor Labs, based in Greater Noida, India, and founded by Lakshay Jain and Yash Mishra. Escanor connects the tools your software runs on (code host, cloud, databases, monitoring and chat) with a dashboard, an assistant, an MCP server for coding agents, and desktop and phone apps. Send questions, feedback and billing problems through [Support](/support), and report vulnerabilities through [Security](/security). Teams evaluating Escanor can [book a call](/book-a-call) or [watch the demo](/demo). For a tour of the product, start with [What is Escanor](/docs/overview).
